When was the first time you really felt like a grown up (if ever)?

The day my mother died about 20 years ago. I was 30 then and had already left home for work, was living in another city with a thriving career and tight-knit circle. But the day I lost her to cancer, I knew I’m on my own. Both my older siblings were married and all my father wanted was to remarry just two weeks after. So there I was, a marriageable daughter myself according to social norms, offering my father’s hand. Quite an adult thing to do, no? 😉
